▶ Play this quizVictory points come from settlements (1 each), cities (2 each), Longest Road (2), Largest Army (2), and hidden victory point development cards.
Roads are the cheapest structures in Catan — each costs just 1 brick and 1 lumber, making early expansion relatively easy.
When a 7 is rolled, the active player moves the robber to any terrain hex, blocking its production and stealing a random resource from an adjacent player.
If another player later plays more Knight cards, they immediately steal the Largest Army tile and its 2 victory points.
Forks in the road network don't count — only the single longest continuous branch qualifies for the tile.
The 19 tiles comprise 4 sheep, 4 wheat, 4 lumber, 3 brick, 3 ore, and 1 desert that produces no resources.
Harbours offer improved trade rates of 3:1 for any resource or 2:1 for a specific resource, rewarding coastal settlement placement.
The settlement piece is returned to supply and replaced by the city on the same intersection, freeing up the settlement for future placement.
Ships in Seafarers work like roads on water but can be moved once per turn during the building phase, adding a strategic layer to island exploration.
This exception exists because victory point cards are only revealed to claim a win — they can never be played for any other effect.
