The four originals were Cloe (Angel), Yasmin (Pretty Princess), Sasha (Bunny Boo), and Jade (Kool Kat), officially released on 21 May 2001.
Larian's 12-year-old daughter Jasmin saw the designs and enthusiastically declared them 'cute', prompting her father to invest based solely on her reaction.
By 2006, Bratz had captured 40 per cent of the worldwide fashion doll market — a significant shift in the previously Barbie-dominated industry.
Mattel also released the 'My Scene' line in 2002, but neither competitor achieved comparable market success to Bratz.
MGA had ceased production in autumn 2009 during the legal dispute with Mattel before regaining the brand and relaunching.
Yasmin was originally one of Carter Bryant's sketched characters, later renamed after Jasmin Larian who was instrumental in convincing her father to produce the dolls.
The original four represented deliberate ethnic diversity: Jade as Asian American, Sasha as African American-inspired, Yasmin as ethnically ambiguous, and Cloe as the blonde leader.
The collaboration includes re-releases and new versions of characters Fiana and Kumi, who haven't appeared since their previous productions.
